Working At Home Jobs – How To Find Them

I know of many mothers who ideally need to work at home so that they can look after their children. And if they can earn some regular money as well that certainly keeps everyone happy!

The following might help some of you looking for work at home jobs. That could be clerical or home assembly jobs. Whatever your skills are then that is a good place to start. You need to focus on your strengths.

To begin with, you need to consider where in your home you will create your office or work area.

I guess this is common sense but if you are looking at home assembly jobs then you may need quite a bit of space for all the parts etc. If you are interested in clerical work at home jobs then you will need a fairly quiet place to work. And you will probably need a computer, printer, phone and perhaps even a fax machine.

Ok, so where do you start your search for work at home jobs?

The following ideas might help:

1… Look online
But not for filling envelopes right? There are many scams on the internet so I suggest that you look for sites that are specifically geared to offering either a legitimate home business or genuine work from home jobs. You might have to spend some time on this until you find something that is a genuine offer. If you can think of some big companies, find their sites and enquire if they have any work at home jobs available. You might be surprised at what you can find.

2…Look in your local area.
Times are tough I know but also many employers are now contracting out work to cut costs. You just might be the kind of person they are looking for. Make a list of all the businesses in your area and contact them. Have a target to contact five a day. Be positive and go for it. You can ring them, write a letter or knock on their door. Do whatever you feel comfortable with. But be prepared to sell yourself.

3…Look in your local papers.
Look through the small ads especially. This is where you’re more likely to find details for working at home jobs. Many smaller firms contract out. But avoid the scams – we’re back to work from home stuffing envelopes again! – and if someone wants cash in advance you need to seriously investigate just what they are offering in return. If you are not happy then don’t bother.

Lets face it, we are all unique. It would be easy to take the plunge into your own home based on-line business by following the advice and techniques of others. Sure, all those business opportunities advertised out there make success sound so simple to achieve. Just follow steps 1,2 and 3…, but what they fail to understand is that what works for one person will not necessarily work for another.

How do you know if you have what it takes to own and run your own business?. It’s one thing to have a dream to move into a home based business of your own, but in reality, if you intend to succeed, you need to set yourself up for success and figure out a few things about yourself first. After all, would you apply for a job that you saw posted if your Resume did not match the Job Description in question. That is why it’s critical that you start and build your profitable home based business based on who you are. Remember this is going to be the last career move that you will make. It is not going to be a stop-gap job, or a means to and end job on a fixed wage, this will be your ticket to a richer, more prosperous lifestyle – one that you have always dreamed of.

So, to get started you need to take a ‘Personal Inventory’ of yourself. This is not just an exercise on sitting down and writing out a few sentences about yourself and what you want out of life, nor is it a Resume. After all, you have no idea yet what type of duties will be required of you within your chosen home based business. Your completed Personal Inventory will successfully match you up with the business opportunity that is right for you.

Before getting started on this Personal Inventory, remember the end product will only have impact on your future if you adhere to three crucial rules.

Be HONEST – You’re only fooling yourself if you cannot be honest about yourself. Remember the only one who is going to benefit from your Personal Inventory is YOU. OK so sometimes the truth hurts, but there are no right or wrong answers in this exercise and don’t beat yourself up if the answers you are giving are not what you want to read. It’s not a test – more a learning tool. So tell the truth and set the record straight.

Be COMMITTED – That means if you start this exercise, you must be committed to finishing it. This will be your first real test of character and should tell you a lot about yourself in terms of task completion. This will only be a minor commitment in terms of the focus and commitment that will be required of you on your road to success in your own home based business.

Be YOURSELF – You’re doing this to get started in a business that’s unique to you so whilst you may have ideas about the type of person you seek to emulate, both personally and professionally, your success is all about you. After all, those people you admire and look up to, got where they are through their belief in themselves. Ultimately, you will find it much easier to stay on track with your business if it relates to you personally and you are confident that its future success is well within your capabilities.

In my following two Articles I will take you through all the categories of your Personal Inventory. There is no time limit to completion but if you are serious about making some significant changes to your life in 2012, time is of the essence.
